So my sister Jana just celebrated her 50th Birthday.Candace and I felt that we just couldn't overlook this occasion so we decided to "Welcome" Jana gently into her 50's. We made our plans on our drive home from California a few weeks ago. We knew that our first order of business would be the guest list. And the guest on the top was none other than the
Grim Reaper.
We wanted to make her a cake but went through many ideas before we settled on this one. The tombstone read: "Here Lies Jana's Youth". We felt it was perfect. At it was a fun opportunity to be Martha Stewart.
We thought it only fitting that she be welcomed home with her own graveyard.
Mr. Reaper followed her around for a while but quit when he wanted some cake. He has his priorities you know.

Jana was adorned with her very own "Mrs. Half A Century" Sash and Tiara. She wore them with pride.......or because we made her. We posted signs up throughout the house. Some read: If you were a car you'd be an Antique, What doesn't Hurt must not Work, Over the Hill: It's all down hill from here, and Old as Dirt! (To name a few)We ate a fabulous dinner of pizza and salad but soon moved onto more important things like presents and cake & ice cream. Candace gave her a cool digital key chain full of pics of her grandkids and kids, and she got a gift card to Texas Roadhouse. Then she settled in to feed the grandkiddies the good stuff: Ice Cream.
I think my sister Jana is great. She is so funny and kind. We may have teased her about her age with this party but we mainly did it because we want her to know that we love her and want her to have many more birthdays....
we can't wait till she turns 60!!!!
